#13 Strategic Daily: Impacts of an Israel-Palestine regional conflict on the United States, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand
The threat of this conflict spilling over is plausible. If this happens, what would it mean for you (assuming you're in a Five Eye nation).
The Israel-Palestine conflict is one of the longest-running and most intractable conflicts in the world, one of which has just exploded in recent days. It has the potential to escalate into a regional conflict, which would have significant impacts on the United States, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
One of the most immediate impacts would be a surge in oil prices. The Middle East is home to some of the world's largest oil reserves, and a regional conflict would disrupt production and transportation. This would lead to higher oil prices, which would have a negative impact on the global economy.
Impact on you: Increased fuel prices at the pump, increases cost across the board on things that rely on fossil fuels (especially the supply chain).
Another impact of a regional conflict would be a possible increase in terrorist attacks. The Middle East is already a hotbed of terrorism, and a regional conflict would likely lead to more attacks in the region and around the world in the name of Jihad. This would be a major concern for the United States, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, which have all been targets of terrorist attacks in the past.
